From O'Reilly Auto Parts' catalog — the store we buy your battery from (checked on a 2016 3.5L and a 2022 2.3L Turbo Explorer). Some engines and trims differ, so we confirm the exact battery for your Explorer when you book and show you the price before we install it.

We replace batteries in gas and diesel Ford Explorers — not the Explorer Hybrid.

How it works

Book online and pay the service fee — your card is saved. We head to your Explorer, test the old battery, take it to the closest O'Reilly for the core exchange and buy the right new one at the store's walk-in price. By O'Reilly's catalog, the Ford Explorer takes — 2011–2019: Group 65 (650–850 CCA); 2020–present: Group 48 (760–800 CCA). Engines can differ, so we confirm the exact battery for your Explorer when you book, and you see the price before we install it.

For 2020–present Ford Explorers, the parts store's catalog only lists AGM batteries — those usually came with one from the factory, often for auto start-stop or heavier electrical loads, and we put the same type back. For 2011–2019, regular and AGM both fit — we'll match what your Explorer came with unless you ask for the upgrade.
